Kyle Busch trionfa in Texas e prende la testa della classifica
Quarta vittoria in otto giorni per Busch che approfitta del clamoroso errore strategico del team di Martin Truex Jr. Il Furniture Row Racing, dopo aver dominato la corsa, ha lasciato il pilota in pista con gomme usate finendo sesto.

Dopo aver trionfato sia nel Camping World Truck Series che nella Sprint Cup a Martinsville la scorsa settimana, Kyle Busch si è ripetuto anche in Xfinity ed in Sprint Cup sul Texas Motor Speedway, conquistando così la quarta vittoria in otto giorni.
Busch ha tagliato il traguardo con un vantaggio di 3''904 su Dale Earnhardt Jr., mentre Joey Logano ha chiuso in terza posizione precedendo Jimmie Johnson ed il rookie Chase Elliott. L'ottavo posto conclusivo di Kasey Kahne è stato il migliore per il pilota nel 2016.
Il grande deluso dell'evento è certamente Martin Truex Jr. che ha condotto per 141 dei 334 giri, riuscendo anche ad ottenere un vantaggio di 8 secondi sugli inseguitori. Un errore di strategia del proprio team ne ha, tuttavia, compromesso le possibilità di vittoria quando al giro 289 veniva lasciato in pista mentre il resto dei rivali andava al pit.
L'ennesimo errore del team è avvenuto quando Truex Jr. è stato lasciato in pista nonostante un periodo di caution chiamato al giro 291. Quando la gara è ripresa al giro 301, Truex Jr. non ha potuto fare nulla con le gomme ormai usurate per difendersi da Busch, concludendo al sesto posto.
Il poleman Carl Edwards ha condotto nel corso dei 20 giri iniziali, poi un errore del team al pit stop lo ha costretto a rientrare al giro numero 222. Tornato in pista in diciannovesima posizione, Edwards è riuscito a risalire sino alla settima.
Grazie alla vittoria, Kyle Busch ha così preso il comando della classifica precedendo di sei punti Johnson.
