Sardegna, PS16: Neuville dà spettacolo sulla Hyundai
Il belga vince la PS16, mentre Paddon resta in testa alla corsa davanti a Ogier
Thierry Neuville ha risolto i problemi all'idroguida (gli hanno anche sostituito il cambio al Parco Assistenza) che lo hanno condizionato nelle prove di questa mattina e si è concesso il successo nella PS16, la Ittiri Arena 2 di appena 1,4 km: il belga ha dato un segno della competitività della Hyundai i20 WRC che è in testa al Rally Italia Sardegna da ieri con Hayden Paddon, la giovane rivelazione della squadra coreana che ha ceduto in questo frangente solo tre decimi di secondo a Sebastien Ogier, il campione del mondo che è all'inseguimento con la Vw Polo R GTR: il transalpino ha commesso un piccolo errore a un tornante: "Sto tirando come mai ma non riesco a riprendere l'ottimo Hayden...".
Vale la pena evidenziare che il secondo tempo è stato ottenuto da Kris Meeke con la Citroen DS3 WRC che ieri è uscita di scena praticamente subito e che oggi è tornato a competere grazie al Rally2. Ott Tanak mantiene saldamente il terzo posto con la Ford Fiesta, mentre Mads Ostberg con la Citroen DS3 WRC sente alitare alle sue spalle Jari-Matti Latvala con la Volkswagen Polo R WRC: anche il finlandese si è lamentato di un piccolo errore in un'inversione.
