Germania, PS16: esce anche Meeke, in testa Neuville!
E' una corsa ad eliminazione: ora la Hyundai può costruire una storica doppietta con Sordo secondo
Iil Rally di Germania continua a riservare dei clamorosi colpi di scena: Kris Meeke non ha fatto in tempo ad assaporare il gusto di essere in testa alla gara tedesca dopo il ritiro del leader Jari-Matti Latvala e l'inglese ha subito sbattuto con la Citroen DS3 WRC nel corso della speciale numero 16. L'emozione deve aver giocato un brutto scherzo a Kris che ha toccato contro un muro alla seconda curva di Grafschaft rovinando la ruota posteriore sinistra.
La corsa passa nelle mani di Thierry Neuville che vince la prova e si porta al comando con la Hyundai i20 WRC seguito dall'analoga vettura di Dani Sordo: per la Casa coreana si profila una inaspettata doppietta, mentre la Vw eredita con Andreas Mikkelsen un terzo posto, dopo che i due grandi protagonisti della gara, Sebastien Ogier e Jari-Matti Latvala sono stati autori di incidenti.
Da segnalare anche l'eccellente quarto posto assoluto del giovane Elfyn Evans con la Ford Fiesta RS WRC che comincia a raccogliere dei frutti del suo apprendistato: ormai è costantemente più veloce di Mikko Hirvonen.
