In Australia vince Thierry Neuville, Latvala va a sbattere nel finale
Il belga della Hyundai si impone senza troppi problemi, mentre il finlandese sbaglia nel finale cedendo le altre due posizioni del podio anche a Tanak e Paddon. Fuori Breen, Ogier solo quarto.

Thierry Neuville ha conquistato la sua quarta vittoria stagionale nel WRC portandosi a casa anche la Power Stage a Coffs Harbour, mentre Jari-Matti Latvala ha buttato al vento il secondo posto del Rally d'Australia andando a sbattere nell'ultima prova di gara.
Il belga della Hyundai ha approfittato della cancellazione della penultima PS a causa delle condizioni climatiche avverse, presentandosi ai 6,4km della Power Stage con 14"7 di margine sul finlandese, che però ha commesso l'errore finale ritirarsi danneggiando la propria Toyota a pochi km dal traguardo.
Neuville ha quindi potuto gestire la situazione e alla fine ha trionfato con 22"5 di vantaggio sugli inseguitori, primo dei quali Ott Tanak con la Ford Fiesta della M-Sport, al settimo podio stagionale.
La Top3 viene completata da Hayden Paddon con la seconda Hyundai, approfittando dell'incidente che ha visto in precedenza coinvolti Craig Breen e Scott Martin, usciti illesi dal capottamento con la loro Citroen C3, completamente distrutta nell'incidente.
Sébastien Ogier chiude quarto con il successo nell'ultima PS, ma non è stato protagonista di un gran rally che lo vede terminare davanti ad Elfyn Evans con la Fiesta della DMACK.
Il migliore delle Toyota alla fine è Esapekka Lappi, sesto, con la Citroen di Kris Meeke settima a distanza siderale dal finlandese. Buona prova per Richie Dalton con la propria ŠKODA Fabia R5, ottavo, mentre in Top10 abbiamo anche i due idoli locali Nathan Quinn (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) e Dean Herridge (Subaru Impreza STI).
