Galles, PS6-7: Ogier allunga, problemi per Latvala e Meeke torna sul podio
Sébastien Ogier guadagna ancora su Ott Tänak, mentre la Polo del suo compagno di squadra ha problemi alla trasmissione, cedendo il terzo gradino al britannico della Citroën.

Il Wales Rally GB, penultimo round del WRC, è sempre più nel segno di Sébastien Ogier.
Il Campione del Mondo della Volkswagen ha portato la sua Polo R WRC al traguardo con il miglior tempo anche nelle ripetizioni delle tratte "Sweet Lamb" e "Hafren". Sfruttando qualche problemino tecnico accusato dalla Ford Fiesta RS WRC di Ott Tänak, il francese allunga a +23"3 in classifica generale sul ragazzo del Dmack World Rally Team.
Torna sul terzo gradino del podio virtuale Kris Meeke con la sua Citroën DS3 WRC; il pilota dell'Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team (attardato di 1'05"4 dalla vetta) sfrutta i guai in cui è incappato Jari-Matti Latvala, la cui Polo soffre per un problema alla trasmissione. Il finlandese è scivolato addirittura all'ottavo posto e questa non è una bella notizia in casa Volkswagen, dopo che anche la Polo di Andreas Mikkelsen ha avuto noie simili. Quest'ultimo è sprofondato ad oltre 7' dal leader e vede allontanarsi le chance di lotta per il secondo posto in campionato.
Le tre Hyundai NG i20 WRC condotte da Hayden Paddon, Thierry Neuville e Dani Sordo completano le prime sei posizioni, con il neozelandese e il belga separati da soli 2"9 e vicinissimi a Meeke, mentre lo spagnolo è molto più distante.
Settimo Mads Østberg (M-Sport) con la Ford Fiesta RS WRC, il quale precede Latvala e uno staccatissimo Stéphane Lefebvre (Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team) con la Citroën DS3 WRC.
Il francesino vede avvicinarsi di gran carriera la ŠKODA Fabia R5 ufficiale condotta da Esapekka Lappi, leader della Classe WRC2, che nonostante un testacoda commesso nella PS7 in categoria precede la Fabia di Teemu Suninen (Team Oreca, +50"5) e i suoi compagni di squadra Pontus Tidemand e Jan Kopecký, con quest'ultimo che ha dovuto cedere il passo allo svedese nella lotta per il podio dopo essere incappato in un testacoda.
Anche nelle categorie WRC3 e Junior non ci sono novità: la Citroën DS3 R3T di Martin Koči (Styllex Slovak National Team) ha 35" su quella di Simone Tempestini e oltre 1' su quella di Yohan Rossel.
