Matt Kenseth si prende Dover dopo una maxicarambola
Sesta vittoria nelle ultime sette gare per un pilota della Joe Gibbs Racing, che ha preceduto Kyle Larson e Chase Elliott. Jimmie Johnson invece ha dato vita ad un incidente che ha visto ben 18 vetture coinvolte.

Prosegue il momento magico della Joe Gibbs Racing nella NASCAR Sprint Cup: la squadra legata alla Toyota ha centrato a Dover la sua sesta affermazione nelle ultime sette gare e questa volta a portarla al successo è stato Matt Kenseth, che invece ormai mancava l'appuntamento con il gradino più alto del podio da diversi mesi.
La gara si è decisa dopo una bandiera rossa, dovuta ad una maxicarambola innescata dal pluricampione Jimmie Johnson, che ha coinvolto la bellezza di 18 vetture. Il portacolori della Hendrick Motorsport è rimasto con il cambio bloccato in seconda in occasione di una ripartenza ed è stato centrato da tutto il gruppone che lo seguiva. Un vero inferno che ha coinvolto anche tanti big come Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr e Joey Logano.
Con tutti questi protagonisti fuori dai giochi, a contendere la vittoria a Kenseth fino alla fine è stato Kyle Larson, ma il pilota della Joe Gibbs Racing è stato bravissimo a chiudere ogni possibile varco al rivale della Ganassi Racing. In terza posizione si è piazzato invece un ottimo Chase Elliott, che a sorpresa è stato il migliore tra i piloti della Hendrick Motorsport.
A completare la top five ci sono poi Kasey Kahne e Kurt Busch, mentre ne sono rimasti subito fuori Brad Keselowski e Denny Hamlin. Buono anche il risultato finale di Danica Patrick, che sfruttando le difficoltà altrui si è arrampicata fino alla 13esima posizione.
